Gifts for dad. Why are they so difficult to find? You’ve spent too many years buying BBQ aprons with silly slogans or under garments that have since been shoved into the back of his dresser drawer. This year, it’s going to be different. And Pureman is here to help. Here’s our list of Father’s Day gift ideas to explore and score!
If your dad is less of a ‘stuff’ guy and more of an ‘experience’ guy, then exploring the neighbourhoods around you and the amazing events and happenings nearby is always a great place to start looking for the perfect gift.
Since we’re based out of Brisbane, we’re happy to help the Brisbane locals out with some of our insider knowledge. Hopefully these can spark some ideas for those of you whose dad’s live a bit further afield!
The South Beach Social in South Brisbane is a wonderful little spot with a view. With tasty and familiar pub meals and a great selection of beers on tap, it’s a win for a Father’s Day lunch. But the stellar water views and live music (depending on their schedule, which you can check out here) make this place a winner in our hearts. A day to eat, drink and be merry to celebrate the awesomeness of dad is pretty great, in our books. And there is something about a view of the water and a few tunes that make you sort of drift away for a mini vacation...Dad’ll love it.
If you aren’t a Brisbane local, look for a place with a similar vibe! Great eats, great views and a chance to relax and enjoy some good food and good company.
If your dad is a fan of jazz, we recommend experiencing the Wynnum Manly Jazz Festival happening on Father’s Day for a day of awesome jazz and wonderful company! Pack a picnic blanket, bring some snacks and save room for some of the awesome food and drink carts around the festival. If you have some little ones with you, there are also a number of activities to keep them entertained, too.
If Wynnum is nowhere near you, seek out another outdoor festival or event to celebrate the old man. Fresh air, live music and family sounds like a win to us!
Some good old fashioned Barefoot Bowls can never steer you wrong when you’re planning an afternoon out with dad. There are tons of clubs across Australia, most of them have bars, as well. So a game with some beer and a bite won’t fail to entertain all involved, especially the man of the hour!
If dad likes everything a little simpler and the idea of having to run around town on Father’s Day isn’t at the top of his priority list, here are a few gift ideas that he can easily unwrap and enjoy.
Baxter of California 1-2-3 Shave Kit: This awesome little wet shave kit is a lovely way to pamper your dad with a manly routine. It includes a 100% natural badger shave brush for a durable cream application and shave, as well as the Super Close Shave Formula to help keep your shave smooth, minus the redness and irritation. Antiseptic and botanical ingredients keep dad feeling soothed and refreshed while the included After Shave Balm soothes and calms his skin.
Fulton and Roark Solid Cologne: Every man likes a nice, manly scent now and again. Fulton and Roark offer a range of manly smells in the form of their solid cologne bars. From rosewood and cedar to white musk and sandalwood, find a scent that suits him best. This solid cologne is highly concentrated so it will last long both on and off the skin. The solid metal container means it travels easily in a carry on, a gym bag or in his pocket.
The Muhle RT5 Leather Bag is a gorgeous little piece of equipment for manly grooming rituals, and for dad’s who enjoy masculine and aesthetic accessories when at home or on the move. This small bag is of the very highest-quality (for those dad’s among us who are purists) and the finish and design of this leather case was inspired by the old classic cases for cameras, binoculars or other small and valuable objects for men. This small model has little pockets and compartments for shaving cream, brushes, razors and blade cartridges. It’s a really handy and extremely sexy, in a manly way, man-bag for dad.
Happy Father’s Day!
